Lucena City - Crime rate in Quezon Province went down by 58 percent in the past few weeks, according to police reports gathered by Quezon governor David Suarez.
This, he attributes to the renewed enthusiasm of the local police force in the intensified campaign against illegal drugs and other forms of crimes.
Besides the hundreds and thousands of persons involved in the illegal drugs trade the pushers, users and codllers or protectors, who voluntarily surrendered and others were nabbed by the operatives, Governor Suarez also reported that about 59 employees of the provincial government of Quezon have been dismissed after the mandatory drug test conducted on them which resulted positive that they are drug users.
All employess of the provincial government were subjected to the mandatory drug test, and thr 59 who were dismissed among them.
"We have long been fighting against this drug menace in our province and two years ago, we started conducting random drug testing which resulted positive in the 59 employees who were dismissed, and so they lost their jobs," Governor Suarez reiterated in an interview last week.
He added, "Under President Rodrigo Duterte, we have witnessed forourselves how agressive our government is in its campaign to put a stop to the scourge of illegal drugs, and your governor is behind the president in his goal to make the whole country drug-free and this starts in our provincial capitol grounds."
