CALAMBA CITY, Laguna (PIA) --The Department of Trade and Industry, in cooperation with the municipal government of Pagsanjan, has unveiled its fourth Negosyo Center in Laguna at the One-Stop Shop Processing Center in Pagsanjan on September 27, 2016.

The event commenced through the blessing and ribbon-cutting of Negosyo Center Pagsanjan followed by the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement between the DTI and the Municipal Government of Pagsanjan. Entrepreneurs from the micro, small, and medium enterprises, Shared Service Facilities cooperators, San Pablo Chamber of Commerce, Association of Laguna Food Processors, Inc., and barangay and municipal officials of Pagsanjan joined the event.

“We aim to have a hassle-free business registration. Through the Negosyo Center, business permits are now processed on the same day and in just a matter of minutes using G-cash,” said DTI Laguna Director Susan R. Palo.

The Negosyo Center Pagsanjan, in line with the Republic Act 10644 or the “Go Negosyo Act,” will provide business consultancy to existing and aspiring entrepreneurs on marketing and promotions, finance, networking, and other related services that will promote business development in the town and its neighboring municipalities like Lumban, Cavinti, Magdalena, and Luisiana. “The Negosyo Center will be very helpful to us as it will serve as an instrument to improve the livelihood of our townspeople and to raise the economic growth of our town, including our neighboring municipalities,” Pagsanjan Mayor Girlie Maita J. Ejercito said in her opening remarks.

Mayor Ejercito mentioned that more and more investors are coming to their town to set-up restaurants, as the town is now quickly becoming a food hub. She also discussed the priority projects and other future plans for Pagsanjan such as establishing convention centers and more tourist attractions for income generation.

Pagsanjan is considered the Tourist Capital of Laguna and is the first town in the 4th district of the province to launch the Negosyo Center. As a booming town, it boasts the prominent Pagsanjan Falls, old heritage houses, local and gourmet restaurants, eco-farm resorts, among others.

DTI CALABARZON Regional Director Marilou Q. Toledo emphasized the significant role of the Barangay Officials in the success of the Negosyo Centers as they are the ones who identify the entrepreneurs in their respective place.

“We have coordinated with Mayor Ejercito to consolidate the entrepreneurs in the town and to study the requirements of the tourism industry to encourage more business in Pagsanjan, especially in the food and tourism sectors as these are the strengths and main focuses of the town,” said Toledo.
