CAMP NAKAR, Lucena City – The Quezon Police Provincial Office (QPPO) confirmed one casualty of Typhoon Niña in Mulanay, Quezon. Police Senior Superintendent Rhoderick C Armamento, Acting Provincial Director, identified the victim as Gregorio Reforma Ruel, 43 years old, married, farmer, and a resident of Sitio Cantumbao, Brgy Sta. Rosa, Mulanay, Quezon. Based on the report, personnel of Mulanay Municipal Police Station led by PCI Bonna A Obmerga, Officer in Charge, were conducting clearing operation when they received the report.
Investigation revealed that at around 2AM of December 26, Gregorio was accidentally hit by a falling coconut tree outside his residence while evacuating his family at Sitio Cantumbao, Brgy.Sta Rosa, Mulanay, Quezon causing his death. PSSupt Armamento stated that early preemptive evacuation of residents in coastal and low lying areas was conducted by Quezon PNP in cooperation with the Local Government Units (LGUs) province-wide to ensure public safety (GG/RMO, PIA-Quezon/ with reports from QPPO)
