The Commission on Elections is encouraging interested parties to request for the conduct of satellite registration of voters in their area to ensure wider voter participation during the ongoing voter registration which resumed last November 7, 2016, in preparation for the October 23, 2017 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections.

Election Officers are mandated to intensify satellite registration activities and establish satellite offices for the reception of applications under Comelec Resolution No. 10166. Any interested party may request for the conduct of satellite registration in their area, subject to the the recommendation of the concerned EO and upon the approval of the Regional Election Directors (in case of NCR, Davao City, and Zamboanga) and Provincial Election Supervisors.

Satellite offices may be established not only in barangay halls but also in public/private schools, commercial establishments, detention center/jail or resettlement areas, areas with Indigenous Community, and other public places within the city/district/municipality.

The Commission received a total of 490,892 applications for registration for a period of nine weeks from November 2016 to January 2017.(COMELEC)
