MANILA - A five-member French Parliamentary delegation led by its Chairperson-Senator Gérard Miguel and accompanied by French Ambassador to the Philippines Thierry Mathou recently paid a courtesy call on Secretary of Foreign Affairs Perfecto Yasay Jr. The French delegation composed of composed of members of the French-Southeast Asia Group in the French Senate visited the Philippines from January 06 to 09. The group discussed issues of mutual interest such as, among others, climate change, defense, and agriculture cooperation during the call. Senator Simon Sutour, Deputy Chairperson for the Philippines in the French Senate said that the visit of the French parliamentary delegation intends to further strengthen Philippines-France relations, specifically in inter-parliamentary engagement and cooperation. The senator noted that this year marks the 70th year anniversary of the establishment of PH-France diplomatic relations. The French senators visited the country at the invitation of Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III.
