GSIS offers emergency loan to members

LUCENA CITY, Quezon (PIA)- The Government Service Insurance System Lucena City Branch is accepting emergency loan applications for active GSIS members who were adversely affected by the recent typhoon ‘Nina’.

Applicants must be bonafide residents or employees of government offices within the declared calamity area. The applicant must also be in active service ;not on leave of absence without pay and has no arrearages in the payment of mandatory social insurance contributions.

According to GSIS, the provinces that have been declared under state of calamity were Quezon, Marinduque and Batangas.

The emergency loan (P20K or P40K) is payable in three years or 36 months at an interest rate of six percent per annum where the balance will be deducted from the proceeds.

Applicants may apply through GSIS kiosk machines. The granting period started January 10 and will continue until February 9. (GG/Ruel Orinday, PIA-Quezon)
