PCPC members attend workshop on the enhancement of the local code for children

TAYABAS CITY, Quezon - The provincial government of Quezon through the provincial social welfare and development office held a workshop on the enhancement of the local code for children in this city last August 15-16 which was attended by members of the provincial council for the protection of children (PCPC).

Provincial social welfare and development officer Sonia Leyson said the workshop aims to identify the mandate of each member agency of the council in the four broad categories of the rights of the child, review the existing local code for children and formulate an updated provincial code for children.

Topics discussed in the two day workshop included the four categories of child’s rights; local development plan for children; local investment plan for children; local code for children; local state of the children report; component/ significant contents of the local code for children and the existing local code for children.

Speakers came from the council for the protection of children who gave suggestions recommendations during the workshop of the participants which was devided into four groups.

The revised local code for children will be adopted by the municipal councils for the protection of children which would serve as their basis in the formulation of local code for children in the different municipalities/cities in the province of Quezon.

Among the local/ national government agencies that are members of the provincial council for the protection of children are Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Philippine Information Agency (PIA), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Department of Education (DepEd), Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), Provincial Budget Office (PBO) and other national/ local government agencies.
