LUCENA CITY, Quezon --The provincial government is all set for this year’s edition of “Niyogyugan Festival 2017” slated on 17-27 August...
Provincial Agriculturist Roberto Gajo, said ‘Niyogyugan Festival’ formally opens with an-agri tourism exposition on 17 August with Quezon Gov. David Suarez along with Niyogyugan Chairperson Aleta Suarez and other local officials expected to grace the occasion.
The festival is part of the weeklong celebration of Quezon Day on 19 August which aims to showcase agricultural products harvested/produced by farmers from the different municipalities in the province. Also in promotion of the coconut industry in general as different booths or nipa hut on display are made out of coconut trees. The different booths are expected to outdo each other for the best booth contests. The provincial government has prepared prizes for the winners.
Other events inclue: ‘Araw ng Pamilyang Magsasaka” on 22 August featuring talent show by the Rural Improvement Club members; Folk Dance competition by 4-H club; ‘Tiyakad-Bunot race by Quezon young farmers federation; Trip to Polilio by fisherfolks association and “Pinaka contest.” A herbal landscape contest is also part of the different activities starting 17 Aug until 25, 2017.
In line with the Gawad-Saka program of the Department of Agriculture, the provincial government award Outstanding Farmers/ Fisherfolks on 22 August.
The awardees are: Domingo P. Marasigan, Sariya-Outstanding Corn Farmer; Angelito D. Mendoza, Sariaya, Oustanding High Value Crops Rosanna Sinapilo, Candelaria-Oustanding Organic Farmer; Florencio M. Perez, Tiaong-Outstanding Rice Farmer; Nilo P. Barameda, Calauag-Outstanding Fish Capture; Nenieveh F. Glinoga, Pitogo-Oustanding Small Animal Raiser Jerson G. Cabriga, Tayabas City-Oustanding Young Farmer Cabriga Family- Outstanding Farm Family.
