Interagency Statisical Exhibit and Highlight on the Opening of the 28th NSM

Two statistical activities were conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority-Provincial Statistical Office-Quezon (PSA Quezon) highlighting the opening of the 28th National Statistics Month (NSM) celebration in the province held on 4 October 2017 at the Activity Center, 3rd Floor of Pacific Mall in Lucena City.

The first activity was the Interagency Statistical Exhibit showcasing various statistics and information pertaining to the outputs and accomplishments of the members of the interagency committee organized to provide assistance and support to the celebration of NSM in Quezon province. The exhibit anchored on this year’s theme “Facts and Figures for the Future: Statistics for Evidence-Based Decisions Towards Ambisyon Natin 2040” was opened with a ribbon cutting ceremonies led by Provincial Statistics Officer Airene A. Pucyutan of PSA Quezon and assisted by members of the NSM interagency committee.

The members of the interagency committee include the following agencies: 1) Department of Education – Division of Quezon, 2) Department of Education- Division of Lucena City, 3) Department of Foreign Affairs – Regional Consular Office Lucena, 4) Department of Interior and Local Government - Quezon, 5) Department of Interior and Local Government - Lucena City, 5) Provincial Planning and Development Coordination Office – Quezon, 6) Philippine Information Agency, 7) DWLC Radyo Pilipinas, 8) Calayan Education Foundation, Inc., 9) Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation, 10) Maryhill College, 11) Southern Luzon State University, 12) AMA Computer College, and 13) Philippine Statistics Authority – Quezon. Each participating agency featured their important data in tarpaulins with a headline statement telling a story of the data, presented in charts or tables.

The second activity conducted by PSA Quezon was the Seminar on Selected Statistical Indicators and 2015 Census of Population Demographic Characteristics Provincial Data Dissemination aimed at enhancing the awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics of the different sectors of society, particularly the students. The seminar featured the background of PSA and an overview of the NSM celebration presented by Senior Statistical Specialist Ruben V. Litan. Part of the seminar was the lecture on selected indicators such as Population and Demography, Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Labor Force Survey (LFS) delivered by Statistical Specialist II Emerose R. Abellanosa. PSO Airene A. Pucyutan presented the Results of the 2015 Census of Population Provincial Demographic Characteristics. Statistical Specialist II Roberto M. Ramos acted as Emcee for both activities.

The participants in the seminar aside from the members of the NSM interagency committee were students from the various schools in Lucena City who will be joining in the “On Spot Poster Making Contest” and the “Slogan Writing Contest” to be held on 13 and 18 of October 2017, respectively, as part of the NSM celebration.
