LUCENA CITY, Quezon -- The Philippine Information Agency-Quezon Information Center and PIA-4A CALABARZON in cooperation with the municipal government of Mauban under the leadership of Mayor Fernando Llamas conducted an ASEAN Youth Forum at the Cagbalete Island Tourist Port, Mauban, Quezon on November 27.
The activity which was attended by more than 400 high school & college students from the different schools in Mauban aims to promote ASEAN integration benefits to the students most especially to graduating college students.
Resource speakers in the forum included Caroline Zabella, administrative officer of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) - Lucena City. Zabella discussed the Philippines chairmanship of the ASEAN 2017 and the services of the DFA; PO3 Rose Tayaba on the other hand discussed the Quezon PNP’s program to curb drug abuse problem in the province of Quezon while Kier Gideon Gapayao, Information officer II of the Philippine Information Agency-Rizal-Region 4A tackled the Freedom of Information (FOI).
Prior to the forum, the PIA-4A also held a motorcade at the town proper in the morning which was participated by Mauban government employees which also aims to promote and increase the level of awareness of the local residents of Mauban particularly the students on ASEAN integration benefits.
PIA-Quezon & Region 4A also conducted both an ASEAN Youth forum and multi-sectoral forum in Lucena City and Atimonan, Quezon respectively.
The said activities were conducted in line with the 50th founding anniversary of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) where the Philippines is hosting the chairmanship this year. (GG/Ruel Orinday, PIA-Quezon)
