One hundred ninety thousand policemen in the country are set to be under the leadership of incoming Philippine National Police (PNP) chief and currently the head of Metro Manila Police – Police Director Oscar Albayalde.
Albayalde is known for being brave and strict.
His surprise inspections at police stations nationwide have resulted in the relief of policemen caught sleeping while on duty and the revamp of run-down precincts.
Albayalde said one of his priorities is disciplining the police force once he assumes office.
Napaka importante kasi ng disiplina. Noon pa man medyo iyan na rin ang ating advocacy and I think maraming paraan para madisiplina ang ating kapulisan,” he said.
(Discipline is very important. Even before it has always been my advocacy and I think there are many ways to discipline the police.)
Aside from discipline, Albayalde said the war on drugs will continue under his leadership.
“Napakaganda nitong naging resulta at ito talaga ang programa ng ating pangulo so iyan po ay magpapatuloy iyan,” he said.
(The result has been very good and this is the program of the president so this will continue.)
Albayalde is a member of PMA class of 1986 and the ‘mistah’ or classmate of current PNP chief director General Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.
Dela Rosa was set to retire last January but the president extended his term.
Albayalde has been a part of the Special Action Force for five years.
He also became the executive officer of the Directorate for Plans of the PNP before his appointment as the chief of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).
Albayalde led the investigation of the Resorts World shooting incident and the security preparations at the recent Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean)
Summit where most activities where held in Metro Manila. Albayalde was also one of the PNP officials who actively participated in the off-season games of UNTV Cup under the team PNP Responders. — Mai Bermudez | UNTV News & Rescue
