DOH donates 49 ambulances and 2 dental buses to CALABARZON

DOH-CALABARZON Regional Director Eduardo C. Janairo hands over the keys and registration of one of the 49 land ambulances alloted to CALABARZON region to Mayor Roger A. Panganiban of Padre Burgos, Quezon during the turn-over ceremony held at the QMMC Compound, Project #4, Quezon City.


Department of Health (DOH) – CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) Regional Director Eduardo C. Janairo yesterday turned-over 3 out of 49 land ambulances and one of two dental buses to the municipalities of Binan in Laguna, Lobo and San Luis in Batangas; and Padre Burgos in Quezon.

“My only request to the local executives and recipients of these units is to manage them effectively, take good care of them and use them as intended, an emergency medical transport for patients needing immediate treatment and care,” Director Janairo stated during the turn-over ceremony held at the Quirino Memorial Medical Center Grounds, in Quezon City.

“Let us not forget that these units were given to provide prompt basic and advanced life support services for patients in rural areas 24/7,” he added.

Among the recipients of the ambulances and includes the Provincial Government of Batangas (1 dental bus), municipalities of Lobo, San Luis and Mabini in Batangas; Barangay Dolores in Taytay, Rizal, Antipolo City, and barangays Muntindilaw, Beverly Hills, Mambugan, San Isidro and Mayamot in Antipolo; Lone Distric of Binan (1 dental bus) and Pagsanjan LGU in Laguna; ’ municipalities of Agdangan, Buenavista, Catanauan, General Luna, Macalelon, Mulanay, Padre Burgos, Pitogo, San Andres, San Francisco, San Narciso and Unsan in Quezon; (3) three units to Cainta Municipal Hospital; (3) three units to Taytay Emergency Hospital; (2) two units to Rizal Provincial Hospital System in Angono; and (2) units to Rizal Provincial Hospital System Margarito A. Duavit Hospital in Binangonan.

According to Janairo, of the 49 units, 36 were already allocated and the additional 13 are still to be distributed to eligible local government units.

The donated land ambulances is an Asian Utility Vehicle (AUV) Type with an MPV of 2.5 Liters Diesel, 4 cylinder, 16 valves, dual overhead camshaft (DOHC), variable nozzle turbo (VNT) with front mounted intercooler and fuel injection with common rail fuel system and fitted with necessary medical equipment such as BP apparatus, first aid kit, oxygen tank, oxygen tank regulator, minor surgical set, manual resuscitator, stethoscope, automatic external defibrillator, fire extinguisher and a led flashlight.

The dental bus is furnished with two dental chairs, dental bed, a basin (complete with faucet set-up), and compartments for medical equipment and medicines, dental tools and power inverter that will enable it to operate in powerless communities.



Janairo added that DOH has allocated of Php80 million for the procurement of the medical transports under the Health Facilities Enhancement Program (HFEP) which aims for the improvement of health facilities and special service delivery units in the rural areas.

“This emergency units will attend to emergencies, disaster and rescue operations in the rural communities, especially those in remote barangays and with these units in placed, we can lessen impediments in health care delivery,” Director Janairo concluded.
