Special Assistant to the President, Secretary Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go on Wednesday, June 6, said the issue between Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Assistant Secretary Margaux “Mocha” Uson and Ms. Kris Aquino should be put to rest.
In a press conference at the Presidential Guest House in Malacañan, Go said Ms. Aquino reached out to him through text message, wherein she said that she was deeply hurt by the incident.
Uson, in her social media blog, defended President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s kiss with a Filipina during the Filipino Community meeting in Seoul, South Korea.
This enraged Aquino after Uson showed photos of her father, the late Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino, Jr., being kissed by two women inside the plane before he was killed at the tarmac of the then Manila International Airport.
“We conveyed our apologies for the incident concerning her and Mocha,” Go said.
“Nag-usap kami ni Mocha kanina at nagkasundo na na tapusin na ang isyung ito. We all agreed to put this issue to rest out of respect to all our fellow Filipinos,” he added.
“I believe that politics should not divide us. Magtulungan na lang tayo kaysa mag-away-away para sa ikakabuti ng bayan,” Go said.
Go then explained that Uson has been a loyal supporter of the President since the campaign period. He said that she was also upset about the negative comments on the issue and believes that Uson never intended to hurt anybody.
“Dinedepensahan ni Asec. [Uson] ‘yung ginawa ni Pangulong Duterte. So nagkataon lang po na may anak po na naging… nasaktan. ‘Yun po ang aming hinihingian ng sorry,” Go said.
Go also reiterated that the President Aquino and the late Senator Aquino have won the charisma of the masses, adding that both are well loved and well respected. PND
