DENR-4A conducts 7th regional PAMB summit in Quezon

TAYABAS CITY, Quezon - Around 200 members of the Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) from the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon (CALABARZON) attended the three day “7th Regional PAMB summit at the Graceland Country Club, this city on August 29-31, 2018 which was organized by the conservation and development division of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-4A.

The three day summit was highlighted by the following: presentation on R.A 11038 or the expanded NIPAS act of 2018 and the preparation of protected area management plan and PAMB resolution which was presented by Atty. Maria Paz G. Luna, OIC-Regional Director; Paralegal Lecture on Policies, Rules and Regulations on Forestry that was presented by Giovanni G. Gamo, chief, enforcement division of DENR-4A.

Other activities conducted were the presentation of EnvironMentor by Atty. Daniel Darius M. Nicer, CESO II/ assistant secretary for anti-corruption of DENR-4A; Ribbon cutting of 7th PAMB summit IEC exhibit; presentation of paralegal lecture on policies, rules and regulations on land management by Giovanni G. Gamo; presentation of paralegal lecture on environmental laws by Gliceria S. Verzo, provincial environmental management officer- EMB-R-4A; land legal clinic and mining legal clinic.

Part of the three day summit was the launching of “Tayo ang Kalikasan” movement led by DENR USEC Rodolfo Garcia and DILG-4A –OIC Regional Director Atty. Maria Paz G. Luna then followed by a signing of pledge of commitment and oath taking by the Tayo Ang Kalikasan Movement (TAK) provincial chapters/ people’s organization and media practitioners who attended the launching of TAK movement.

According to DENR-4A, Tayo ang Kalikasan movement aims to help and activate citizens to embrace the country’s environmental agenda and encourage them to be active partners in promoting the optional, responsible and sustainable use of natural resources.

USEC. Garcia who represented DENR secretary Roy Cimatu as resource speaker in the summit said that the support of the citizenry is needed and crucial in protecting the environment.

“Education campaigns are also important in protecting the environment, Ikaw, Ako, Tayo ang Kalikasan”, USEC Garcia added. (Ruel Orinday/ PIA-Quezon)
