LUCENA CITY – About 700 artworks from local visual artists were on display and sale atSM Event Center here until Sept. 2 designed for public awareness and appreciation of the localarts and culture in Quezon province.

Members of the Quezon Artists Guild (QAG) led by its president Noel Bueza from Lucban townshowed their skills and creativity in various artworks covering various forms from simplepainting to stainless metal craftsmanship and various genres from still life to abstract arts in the‘Art for Everyone’ week-long event sponsored by SM-Lucena that kicked off on Monday.

Quezon 2nd District Rep. Vicente ‘Kulit’ Alcala who was invited to be the guest of honor andspeaker expressed briefly of his full and unequivocal support to the local artists group andactually bought an acrylic painting by Catanauan artist Roland Yumang entitled ‘The Dancer’priced at P155,000.

Alcala, along with Tayabas city councilor Lovely Reynoso and Bueza and a SM representative,led in the ceremonial ribbon-cutting at the event which easily drew a sizable crowd.

Bueza said they have targeted over 1,000 artworks from all their members but only about 700were able to be displayed for the event.

Marlene ‘Ayer’ Galit, a DSWD employee, showed her “Baby Bloom” acrylic painting, one ofher 15 displayed artworks among others that started to draw attention of the casual and curiouscrowd of mall goers who gathered to see and ogle at the multitude of artworks made by localartists coming from their own province.

Galit, who considers Rens Cada, a fellow QAG member as her mentor, said she also doesabstract arts and finish it in one day if she is in the right mood. She said the artworks of actressHeart Evangelista inspired her to come up with her own.

Tristan Bamba, 39 yrs. old from Mauban, said he is into portrait figure, landscape, still life andnude arts.

Ayelah Deveza of Lucban, Avie Abadilla Lafuente from Tayabas, Aann Reynales from Lopez,Vladimir Agcaoili Nieto and daughter Adriyana Ysabela Nieto of Lucena and Paul Eric Roca,also of Lucena, were among the QAG members who showed considerable and promisingartworks at the event.
