In a report from the Quezon public information office on Wednesday, Department of Agriculture (DA) Regional Director Arnel V. de Mesa congratulated the various organizations of farmers, fisherfolk along with nimal and livestock raisers who have immensely contributed to the development of agriculture and fisheries sector in their communities.
The agriculture department’s annual awards are aimed at conferring recognition for the country’s farmers, fisherfolk and distinguished groups and individuals, who have excelled and made significant contributions in the development of agriculture and fishery sector in their regions and in the country.
Governor David C. Suarez expressed elation for Quezon’s agriculture and fisheries sector consecutive awards in both the regional and national levels.
“Ang mahusay na serbisyo para sa mga mangingisda at magsasaka sa lalawigan ay magdudulot ng patuloy na kaunlaran para sa mga Quezonian (The excellent services for the fisherfolk and farmers in the province are continuously contributing to the development of Quezonian constituents),” Suarez said.
He also congratulated the Quezonian awardees following their regional recognitions at the Great Eastern Hotel in Quezon City on Oct. 12.
The four regional individual winners were, as follows: Ayrin Llorin from Pagbilao as Outstanding Organic Farmer; Nelson Malaluan from Candelaria as Outstanding Coconut Farmer; Amelita Consuelo Ligaya from Lucban as Outstanding Small Animal Raiser; and Loreto Basit from Sariaya as Outstanding Large Animal Raiser.
Five provincial farmers and fisheries organizations also bagged regional awards with Pinagdanlayan Rural Improvement Club (RIC) from Dolores as Outstanding Rural Improvement Club; Atimonan Municipal Agriculture and Fisheries Council (MAFC) as Outstanding MAFC; Infanta Municipal Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (MFARMC) as Outstanding MFARMC; and PALCON Dairy Multi-Purpose Cooperative from Sariaya as Outstanding Small Farmers Organization.
Out of Quezon’s nine regional awards, four have been chosen by the Agriculture department as contenders and are now undergoing stringent evaluations for the national awards categories namely Quezon Provincial Agriculture and Fisheries Council (PAFC); Sariaya’s Loreto Basit (Large Animal Raiser); Candelaria’s Nestor Malaluan as Outstanding Coconut Farmer; and Infanta MFARMC.
