LUCENA City - A suspected drug pusher was killed after resisting arrest that triggered a shootout with policemen conducting a drug-bust operation in Purok 3B, Bgy. Dalahican, here, on Monday night.
Drug suspect Ramil Romero, alias Jogram, 49, died on the spot, said Quezon police director Senior Supt. Osmundo de Guzman.
De Guzman said Romero is included on the drugs watchlist of Lucena City Police Station and has been under police tight watch.
City police director Reydante Ariza said the incident happened at around 9 p.m. while his operatives were conducting the operation whose target was Romero.
After handing a small plastic sachet containing suspected shabu to an operative who acted as poseur-buyer in exchange for a marked P500 bill, Ariza said Romero was immediately collared by the cop with the help of a colleague who acted as backup.
But the suspect, according to Ariza, managed to run away and traded shots with the lawmen using a revolver.
He said the suspect was eventually hit by bullets in the body and died instantly.
After being processed by personnel of Quezon Provincial Crime Laboratory Office, the suspect’s body was brought to Funeraria Pagbilao for autopsy.
