May 70 kaso na ng nakamamatay na AIDS o Acquired Immuno-Deficiency Syndrome dito sa lalawigan ng Quezon at 9 pa ang kinukumpirma ng Dept. of Health sa Manila.

Ito ang napag-alaman kay Alfred Lavarro, HIV Treatment Hub and Care Manager ng QMC Live Positive Wellness Hub na matatagpuan sa QMC Annex at kauna-unahang Department of Health designated HIV Treatment hub sa Lalawigan ng Quezon.

Bilang bahagi ng paggunita sa World AIDS Day sa unang araw ng Disyembre, nagkaloob ng karagdagang kagamitan para sa HIV Treatment Hub o Live Positive Wellness Hub ng Quezon Medical Center ang Team Energy Corporation (TEC) nitong ika-27 ng Nobyembre.

Ipinagkaloob ni TEC, Head of External Affairs Senior Manager Froilan Gregory Romualdez III, External Affairs Ethel Osio at Project Coordinator Carlo Calvario ang Cluster of Differentiation (CD) 4 machine at testing kits na personal namang tinanggap ni QMC Chief of Hospital Rolando Padre at HIV Treatment Hub Head Dr. Yvette Luce.

Ipinahayag ni Lavarro ang gamit ng CD4 machine at kung paano ito higit na makatutulong sa mga HIV positive patient sa lalawigan.

“Ang purpose nitong machine na ito is to monitor the immune status nung mga clients who were tested positive with HIV and are now being treated by QMC sa anti-retroviral therapy. Mino-monitor nito ang immune status ng isang indibidwal. Sa bawat district hospital ay mayroon din tayong mga sinanay na mga personnel na medtech at counselors either a doctor or nurse na makakapag-handle ng HIV counseling and testing.” ayon kay Lavarro.

Sinabi pa nito na nagbibigay rin ng libreng konsultasyon at regular na pagpapatingin ang QMC Live Positive Wellness Hub para sa mga HIV positive patients mula sa iba’t-ibang bayan ng lalawigan. Bukod dito ay nagbibigay rin ng libreng serbisyo ang nasabing tanggapan para naman sa Hepatitis B testing at Syphilis testing.

Pinasalamatan ng tanggapan ng QMC ang TEC power plant para sa kanilang inisyatiba at napapanahong aksyon para sa kampanya ng Provincial Government of Quezon hinggil sa suliranin ng AIDS sa lalawigan. (PIO-Quezon)
