LUCENA CITY - An alleged notorious robber was killed in a foiled robbery that resulted a shootout with policemen who were about to arrest him at Bgy. Isabang, here, an hour after midnight on yesterday.
Quezon police director, Senior Supt. Osmundo de Guzman identified the slain suspect as Jeric Yupio Aureada, 35.
De Guzman said Yupio is a suspected notorious robber and was involved in a series of “gupit- bubong” incidents in several villages in the city.
Lucana City police director, Supt. Reydante Ariza said the incident happened at 12:55 a.m. while Yopio was attempting to rob Colmax Steel and Builders Supply hardware owned by Chinese businessman Jackie Choi situated along Maharlika Highway at said village.
Shortly before the shootout, Ariza said his men responded in the crime scene after receiving a call from a concerned citizen regarding the suspect’s presence in the vicinity of the hardware.
He said the policemen caught the suspect in the act of attempting to gain entry at the establishment.
But when the lawmen were about to accost the suspect, Ariza said the latter pulled a revolver and opened fire prompting PO3 Henry Mago to shoot him resulting to his death.
