LUCENA CITY - A suspected drug pusher was killed while his cohort managed to evade arrest in a shootout with police operatives at Capitol Home Site Subd., Brgy. Cotta, here, on Monday afternoon.
Quezon police director, Senior Supt. Osmundo de Guzman said suspect Pedro Co Morales, 37, driver and resident of said place died due to fatal wounds he suffered while his cohort identified only as alias Udong was able to escape.
De Guzman said the shootout took place while operatives of Lucena City police station under Supt. Reydante Ariza were conducting a drug buy bust operation at around 5:00 p.m.
During the process, Ariza said his men who pretended to be drug buyers were able to buy six pieces of small plastic sachets containing 2.2 grams of suspected shabu using marked P4,000 cash from the suspects.
But when the cops were about to collar the suspects, Ariza said the trio ran away and opened fire at the pursuing lawmen using cal. 38 revolvers.
He said Morales ended up dead while Udong managed to flee unharmed.
Personnel of Quezon Provincial Crime Laboratory Office who processed the crime scene reovered the suspected drugs, the marked money and the cal. 38 revolver used by Morales.
