LUCENA CITY, Quezon - The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) –Region4-A recently celebrated its 24th anniversary at Quezon Convention Center here since its creation in 1995 with the passage of Republic Act 7875, otherwise known as the National Health Insurance Act of 1995.
This year’s commemoration with the theme: “PhilHealth @24: Tungo sa Kalusugan Para sa lahat” showcased the PhilHealth Forward program which features new services and benefits for the members, recent innovations, best practices of PhilHealth offices, and new tie-ups with various stakeholders, among others.
In a program held at the convention center, Lucena City last February 14, Dr. Edwin Orina, Regional Vice President for PhilHealth-4A led the awarding of plaque of recognition to PhilHealth offices, partners and stakeholders with best practices.
Santa Rosa Local Government Unit was recognized for its best practice for health coverage of the poor; Yazaki Torres manufacturing Inc. – best practice for labor management support; Quezon’s Q1K program - best practice for family protection; RAKKK prophet Medical Center Inc. in Gumaca, Quezon – Pioneer in the implementation of claim form-4 and expanded primary care benefit; New Hope Peritoneal Dialysis Center- First pioneer of peritoneal dialysis benefit package; De La Salle University Medical Center- First provider of coronary artery Bypass Graft Z benefit in the region; LPH Luisiana District Hospital – Highest no balance billing compliance for 2018 with 100% rating 217 patients and Toshiba Information Equipment (Philippines), Inc. TIP- Excellence in reporting compliance.
PhilHealth Acting President and CEO Roy Ferrer said PhilHealth extremely values the contribution of key partners who have had a significant partner on our laudable performance the previous year.
“As we move to our 24th year, Philhealth’s spirit continues to soar high as we prepare ourselves to the coming of the universal health care, Our commitment to the health of the Filipino remains strong which is the very essence of our existence,” Ferrer disclosed.
Part of the program was the launching of enhanced newborn care package program and the first Philippine National Quiz Bee.
A press conference was held also as part of the celebration where the new programs and services of PhilHealth were introduced to the media practitioners.
