LUCENA CITY--- A former Army enlisted man was killed in a shootout with police operatives while conducting a drug buy bust at Ruanto Compound, Brgy. Ibabang Iyam, here, on Friday night.
City Police director Supt. Reydante Ariza said ex- Army Sgt. Isidro Katigbak, 50, driver and resident of said village suffered fatal wounds and died on the spot.
In his report to Quezon police director Senior Supt. Ramil Montilla, Ariza said Katigbak resisted when he was about to be accosted by his operatives at around 6:00 p.m.
Prior to the incident, Ariza said the policemen while conducting buy bust operation managed to buy .20 gram of shabu from Katigbak.
"But when my opetatives were about to collar him, he ran away and went his house, took a home- made shotgun and opened fire forcing then to shoot back", said Ariza.
Only last Tuesday, two suspected drug pushers who allegedly resisted arrest were killed during two separate drug bust at Barangays Dalahican and 10.
