CANDELARIA, QUEZON - A barangay Captain who was an staunch supporter of the winning mayoral candidate was peppered with bullets killing him on the spot at Brgy. Mangilag Norte, here, on Thursday late afternoon.

Village chief Ricardo Plata de Chavez, 52, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died on the spot, according to Chief Insp. Elizabeth Capistrano, head of the Quezon Police Public Information Offfice.

Capistrano said De Chavez was driving his Enduro motorcycle on his way home from the Poblacion when he was repeatedly shot from behind by unidentified gunmen.

She said the victim died on the spot.

Scene of the Crime Operatives from Quezon Provincial Crime Laboratory Office who processed the crime scene recovered 3 spent shells for cal. 45 pistol and 12 spent shells for cal.9mm pistol.

It was learned that the victim was among the most loyal supporters who openly campaigned for Mayor Macario Boongaling.

Boongaling was reelected after he defeated former mayor Bong Maliwanag by 2,740 votes.

Asked if the killing had something to do with politics, Capistrano said probers are still digging deeper into the case.

"We will find out in due time if that is election-related", said Capistrano.
