CALAMBA CITY, Laguna – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Laguna launched another batch of mentees under Kapatid Mentor Micro Enterprise Program last May 21.
“Ito po’y isa sa mga programa na ginagawa ng DTI para po i-develop ang ating micro, small and medium enterprise sa Calabarzon and, of course, sa buong Pilipinas,” DTI 4A Regional Director Marilou Toledo explains.
(This is one of the programs implemented by DTI to develop the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) of Calabarzon and the whole Philippines.)
In this program also known as Kapatid Mentor ME, small business owners and individuals are being mentored by seasoned and experienced entrepreneurs.
Toledo emphasized that DTI wants the mentees to level up on their business, to develop their products, and in the long run improve their sales.
DTI Laguna Provincial Director Susan Palo said the program started in partnership with the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship.
The purpose is to enable the students under the program to formulate a business improvement plan by providing them series of lectures and trainings throughout ten sessions.
“So, tuturuan sila sa every aspect ng kanilang negosyo (They will be taught about every aspect of their business),” Director Palo added.
The 24 mentees, she stressed, are all required to complete their attendance to the ten sessions.
She advised them to take the extra mile in learning and reviewing whatever would be taught of them to succeed in crafting their business improvement plan that in result shall advance their business.
She also instructed them to be observant and open to the services being offered not only of DTI but also of the other government agencies and private sector.
“Ang kailangan ngayon ng ating country ay ang mga negosyo, mga bagong bayani ng ating bayan (What our country needs now is businesses as new heroes of the nation)," she claimed.

Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship Ma. Jose “Joey” Concepcion III graced the program and provided insights and practical lessons on how a business could thrive based on his personal experiences.
He advised entrepreneurs to utilize and take advantage of the internet and online platforms in order to widen their market.
“We are working to try to have all of you succeed pero in the end my strong advice is don’t end your learning here,” he said. (Joy Gabrido, PIA4A)
