LOPEZ, Quezon - Saying he could no longer “swallow” the rebel movement’s non- sense ideology, an armed supporter of the New People’s Army (NPA) finally gave himself up to the authorities, police officials said yesterday.
Crispin Gonzales, 59, a member of Milisyang Bayan (MB) platoon Sub-Regional Military Area (SRMA)-4B also surrenderred firearms and ammunition, said Quezon police director, Col. Ramil Montilla.
The communist movement has been using Milisyang Bayan as buffer against police and military forces.
Accompanied by the barangay captain of San Francisco, Montilla said Gonzales made the surrender to elements of Charlie Company of the Army’s 85th Infantry Battalion under Lt. Col. Arnold Gasalatan and Lopez police station under Maj. Noel Divino at Bgry. San Miguel Dao, in this coastal town at around 4:00 a.m.
“Gonzales also yielded an M1 Carbine w/ magazine loaded with 8 bullets, an improvised shotgun with 4 bullets, 165 bullets for AK-47 rifle, 40 sets of NPA uniforms, 12 sweat shirts, 3 mobile phones and various subversive documents with high Intelligence value” said Montilla.
He said Gonzales finally decided to surrender for he is already tired of providing support to the rebels whose ideology and policy are non- sense and useless.
“Matanda na po ako at pagod na pagod na kaya gusto ko nang magpahinga at magbagong buhay sa piling ng aking pamilya”, Montilla quoted Gonzales yo have said.
