CALAMBA CITY - The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration Region IV-A ink a Memorandum of Agreement with Robinsons Land Corporation to establish a satellite office at the Robinsons Galleria South in San Pedro City, Laguna.

OWWA IV-A Regional Director Ma. Luisa Reyes, OWWA Chief for Programs and Services Cynthia Erum, Robinsons Land Corporation Senior Vice President and Business Unit General Manager Arlene Magtibay and Robinsons Land Corporation Regional Operations Manager (Lipa, San Pedro & Las Piñas) R.J. Ramos signed the agreement at the Xian Tian Di Restaurant, Crown Plaza Hotel, Ortigas on Tuesday.

Reyes said the San Pedro Satellite Office will provide the same services as the Calamba Regional Office so that locals need not travel to the central office in Ortigas or the RO.

"Itong partnership na ito, it started when Robinsons offered us a place kung saan puwede magtayo ng satellite office. So we took the opportunity because ito ay isang paraan para makareach-out sa mga place na medyo malayo sa aming office na nasa Calamba City," she explained.

(This partnership started when Robinsons offered us a place where we can put up a satellitre office. So we took the opportunity because this is a way to reach out to places which are far from our office in Calamba City.)

According to the Regional Director, the agency aims to extend its services to OFWs and their families.

Calabarzon in particular is one of the regions which has a high number of OFWs.

"Kung anong ino-offer namin na services sa aming Calamba Office iyon rin ang offered natin sa bagong office. But of course when it comes to processing there would be some documents which will have to be forwarded to Calamba," she added.

(The services offered in the Calamba office will also be offered at the new office. But of course when it comes to processing there would be some documents which will have to be forwarded to Calamba.)

According to Magtibay, Robinsons started partnering with government offices through their Lingkod Pinoy Centers which provide frontline services as early as 2010.

"We started the Lingkod Pinoy Center back in 2010 and the whole idea was to put government offices under one roof especially those which the public heavily transacts with and along the way we already had a partnership with OWWA in Robinsons Place Iloilo and it has proven to be a very good partnership. So when we were building Robinsons Galleria South in San Pedro City we had an idea to be more active in our partnership with OWWA," said Magtibay.

She added that Robinsons Galleria South is seen to attract crowds including stakeholders due to both the accessibility to government services and unique mall features.

Robinsons Galleria is targeted to open on July 2019 at the Lingkod Center.

Aside from OWWA, Other government offices like Philhealth and Social Security System among others will be opening offices at the forthcoming mall. (GG, PIA4A)
