LOPEZ, Quezon - A wanted felon was killed after he resisted warrant officers who were about to arrest him at Brgy. Bocboc, here, onTuesday.
Angelito Capellan, 41, farmer and resident of said village sustained several gunshot wounds in the body and died while being rushed to the hospital, said Col. Ramil Montilla, the Quezon police director.
He said the suspect has standing warrants of arrest for violations of Presidential Decree1613 (Arson) and Republic Act 9262 (Violence against women and their children).
Prior to the shootout, Montilla said warrant officers of Lopez police station under Maj. Jose Danilo Llave proceeded to the residence of Capellan to serve the warrants at 4:40 p.m.
“But upon seeing the approaching warrant officers, Capellan immediately opened fire using a cal.45 pistol. Luckily, no one among the policemen was hit as they managed to quickly take cover”, Montilla said.
He said the lawmen promptly traded shots hitting the suspect several times. After the incident, he said the cops rushed the suspect to Magsaysay Momorial Hospital but he was declared dead on arrival by Dra. Vanessa Navalta.
