LUCENA CITY - Quezon police director, Col. Ramil Montilla warned all legitimate gin owners in the province whose gun registrations have already expired to have them renewed or surrrender the firearms temporarily.
Montilla issued the warning after Monday’s seizure of assorted firearms and ammunition.
The Quezon Police Provincial Office conducted simultaneous implementation of 37 search warrants in the towns of Candelaria and Pagbilao, Tayabas City and this city resulting in the confiscation of nine different firearms with expired registration, and assorted ammunition.
Montilla said the names of those who were arrested and the details of the seized firearms coming from the police chiefs of the two towns and two cities are yet to be received by his office.
He said the search warrants issued by Executive Judge Dennis Orendain of Lucena City Regional Trial Court were simultaneously implemented by the four police stations on Monday morning and were witnessed by barangay officials.
Before the seizure, Montilla said proper notice to every concerned gun holder with expired gun registration in Quezon province had already been sent under “Oplan Katok” drive by the respective police stations.
Montilla said there were 12, 688 unrenewed gun registrations in the entire province when he assumed his post on March 26. The numbervwas reduced to 11, 227 after they started conducting regular house visitation and coordination to gun owners under Oplan Katok.
