Union Bank Employees with Deped Employees. 

TAYABAS CITY - “Isang Daan Para sa Kalikasan” is a tree planting partnership project to plant 100 fruit bearing seedlings at Mt. Banahaw De Tayabas which is a Mt. Banahaw - San Cristobal protected landscape. 

For Team 1, journey started at Jollibee Calumpang as the starting point. Education Program Supervisor for Technology and Livelihood Education, Louie Fulledo together with the Division Social Mobilization Focal person, Joan Kathleen Brizuela welcomed the Union Bank Employees headed by the Project Manager and Lima Branch Ambassador, Alfred S. Fandino.

Team 2 on the other hand was lead by Ermelo Escobinas, DepEd Disaster Risk Reduction Coordinator, 5 Tayabas City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) employees headed by Melvin Rada and the 22 school heads and coordinators of Tayabas City.

The teams met up at Bukal Crossing and travelled 20 mins. at the “Bahay Nayon” of Brgy. Ilayang Bukal. From there started the 2 ½ hours of trekking to get to the Mt. Banahaw protected landscape.

A total of 100 fruit bearing trees were planted by the group. It was then followed by the group picture taking and the 30 minutes rest before trekking to go down again.

Tayabas City Mayors Office also contributed to the project by lending the vehicle used by DepEd and CENRO employees. Likewise, to Brgy Ilayang Bukal as well as some of the Brgy. Councilors who generously accommodated the participants in the “Bahay Nayon” and their homes as well.

The project is part of the Go Beyond campaign of Union Bank; it is part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility or CSR. There were 31 employees from different branches including branch managers.

Planted area will be set as the model of the adopted environments which are being conserved stated by Ermelo Escobinas, DepEd Disaster Risk Reduction Coordinator.

Tayabas City encourages other companies and institution to invest in the environment conservation thru partnership projects and adoption of conserved areas to responsibly maintain and preserve the chosen environment.
