Straight Talk
June 22, 2019
All these Pinoys calling our fishermen liars while defending China just to protect President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, do you hear yourselves? If you bow down to someone, don’t be surprised if he treats you as a servant, not a friend.
When Canada sent trash to our country Duterte said we will wage war against them. When an OFW was found dead in a freezer, Duterte gave the Kuwait government an ultimatum. When he saw foreign interference, he cursed at foreign leaders. But he chooses caution towards China in the Recto Bank ramming.
It is a big disappointment how our government handle the issue regarding the collision of fishing boat between China and the Philippines specially the statement of Agriculture Sec. Manny Piñol and President Duterte.
According to reports a Philippine vessel sank last June 9, Sunday night following a collision with a Chinese vessel in the West Philippine Sea endangering the lives of 22 Filipino fishermen onboard, in what the Philippine military likened to a “hit-and-run.” They were rescued by a Vietnamese vessel. Duterte said the sinking of the Filipino fishing boat is a “maritime incident” but to GEM-VER Captain Junel Insigne it was more than that. He is sad because it seems that the move to ram them was just swept aside. He asked, what if many of them died? He wanted to hear from Duterte that the Chinese captain would be held accountable. He also hope the Chinese fishing there would be asked to leave because the incident may happen again next year.
Duterte’s subservience to China has failed as foreign policy. Where is Duterte when his people needed him? What happened to the “FRIENDLY TALK” between Duterte and China? Is the Chinese being friendly to us? I don’t think so.
Vietnam and Indonesia was able to assert their national sovereignty from China’s incursions without a war, Mr. President. Without a shot. Imagine the terror and agony our Filipino fisherman felt. They’re in the middle of high seas — hanging on to life by the scraps of their sinking vessel. Where’s our tough guy president now?
For the record nobody wants a war against any country but at least try to show your people that you are for your country and your people not for the leverage and debt trap that you’re getting.
