LUCENA CITY - Philippine National Police chief Gen. Oscar Albayalde has ordered the relief of Quezon police commander and two of his town police chiefs over the June 29 road rage incident in Candelaria, Quezon involving a policeman that left a businessman and his driver dead.

Ordered relieved were Quezon police director Col. Ramil Montilla, Candelaria police chief, Lt. Col. Franco Allex Reglos and Sampaloc police chief, Lt. Aaron Herrera.

It can be recalled that at around 7:00 p.m. on June 29, a Hyundai Eon driven by Marvin Domenden, 35, of Sta. Ana, Manila and a Toyota Fortuner driven by a still undentified man were figured in a road mishap while traversing from opposite direction of the road at Bgry. Masin Sur, Candelaria, Quezon.

While having conversation, the unidentified driver suddenly got mad and eventually opened fire using a pistol, hitting Domenden and his occupant, D omingo Dialino, businessman and resident of Bgy Lalig, Tiaong, Quezon.

Right after the shooting, the suspect quickly boarded his Toyota Fortuner with plate number ATA 1751 and fled.

It was found out later that the suspect was PSsgt. Angel Ilao, Jr., assigned at Sampaloc police station after the vehicle was traced to be owned by his wife.

Upon learning of Ilao’s identity, Montilla promptly facilitated his immediate surrender thru his commander, Lt.Herrera.

Escorted by Herrera, ilao was taken to Candelaria police station under Lt. Col. Reglos where he was detained at 12:01 a.m.

He was charged by the police with double murder but the case was downgraded to double homicide.

A police insider told this writer that Montilla, Reglos and Herrera were castigated by Albayalde on Monday morning at his office in Camp Crame over allegations of cover up by the late businessman’s daughter, Atty. Karen Dialino who personally aired her complaint to the PNP chief.

On the same day, the trio were subsequently ordered relieved from their respective posts by Regional Chief of Directorial Staff Col. Nicolas Salvador by command of PRO4A director, Brig. Gen. Edward Carranza.

Asked for his comment over the phone, Montilla said they have done their part on the road rage incident.

“We made him (PSsg.Ilao)surrender, we had him detained and appropriate charges were filed against him”, said Montilla.

As to their unexpected relief, Montilla said, “Its our commander’s discretion and we have to follow orders”!

Montilla was replaced by Col. Audie Madrideo, chief of Regional Personnel and Records Management Division (RPRMD) on concurrent capacity.

Madrideo yesterday assumed the post as OIC shortly after he was briefed and introduced to the members of command group by Montilla.

Last May 27, an order was issued by PNP Directorate for Personnel and Records Management chief Maj. Gen. Lyndon Cubos relieving Montilla from his post.

But a few hours later, another order was issued by Chief of Directorial Staff, Lt. Gen. Camilo Cascolan cancelling the previous order.
