TAYABAS CITY, Quezon - The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) formed the Quezon Energy Press Corps (QEPC) Friday at Nawawalang Paraiso Resort and Hotel here.
NGCP Assistant Vice President for South Luzon Engr. Gerardo Torres, in his welcome remarks thanked, the media practitioners for attending the activity.
Torres underscored the importance of the print and broadcast media in disseminating the programs and activities of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines to the public.
“Print and broadcast media practitioners are our partners in informing the public about the NGCP’s programs including public announcements,” he said.
NGCP South Luzon Office (District 2) head Engr. Patrocino Palad introduced the NGCP projects in Quezon as he urged media practitioners to help disseminate the NGCP’s programs and activities.
NGCP- Regional Communication Officer for south Luzon Carla Teng also thanked and congratulated the elected officers of the Quezon energy press corps.
Elected officers of Quezon Energy Press Corps were the following: President- Allan Llaneta of Eagle Broadcasting Corporation of the Philippines- DZEL; Vice President- Nida Junco; Secretary – Edgar Maceda; Representative for Broadcast- Joseph Orillaneda; Representative for Print- Roy Sta Rosa; Representative for Online- Ace Fernandez. Advisers of the newly created press corps are PIA- Quezon provincial manager Joselito M. Giron and PBS- Radyo Pilipinas- DWLC- Lucena City Station Manager Maritess Balquiedra.
The creation of the Quezon Energy Press Corps aims to establish a cohesive a body of media practitioners that will embody the sentiments and aspirations of the members; extend support and assistance to the information and advocacy programs of private and public institutions and agencies; establish common and unified communication plan through a workable system of information exchanges between energy industry players such as NGCP, and the local media and finally, to foster unity and cooperation among members of the media in the province of Quezon.
NGCP is the country’s sole transmission service provider, committed for delivering power from generation sources to distribution utilities and large industries. NGCP is a private corporation in charge of operating, maintaining and developing the country’s power grid led by majority shareholders Henry Sy, Jr. and Robert Cayiuto, Jr.
