LUNGSOD NG BATANGAS - Nagsagawa ang SM Foundation sa pakikipagtulungan ng Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) ng isang Emergency Preparedness Forum kamakailan para sa mga Senior Citizen at Persons with Disabilities sa SM City Batangas Event Center.

Ayon kay Joan Salcedo, supervising science research specialist ng PHIVOLCS, ginawa nila ang forum sa mga nakatatanda at PWDs dahil ang mga ito ang unang may pangangailangan kung sakaling kailangang magsagawa ng evacuation.

“Ang lindol ay isang bagay na hindi inaasahan dahil dumadating ito ng hindi inaasahan kaya dapat ay laging handa. Ang paghahanda sa lindol ay nagsisimula sa pagpili ng lugar na pagtatayuan ng bahay," ayon kay Salcedo.

Naging resource speaker din si Dr. Ted Esguerra, isang aktibong miyembro ng maraming emergency preparedness and disaster response units sa buong mundo at tinalakay nito ang Robust Preparedness Forum for SM-wide Resiliency Campaign.

Nagpahatid naman ng lubos na pasasalamat si Amelia Maderazo, Provincial Officer ng Senior Citizens Affairs Office ng Batangas Province dahil malaki ang pakinabang ng mga nakatatanda at PWDs sa programang ito.
