LIPA CITY, Batangas -- Kaya Iloilo needed a solid first half to edge Global Makati, 2-0, in their Philippines Football League showdown at the Aboitiz Pitch on Wednesday night.
Jordan Mintah's brace was enough for Kaya Iloilo to pip Global Makati as the club momentarily closed in on Ceres Negros in the race for the top spot in the league table.
Mintah scored in the 14th and the 45th minutes for the eventual final tally.
Meanwhile, Kenshiro Daniels made his return to Kaya Iloilo in the last 30 minutes of the match, but Coach Noel Marcaida said the young midfielder has been with the reigning Copa Paulino Alcantara champ for quite some time now.
"We know what Kenny can give into our team. We really need his service in terms of set pieces," Marcaida said.
Kaya Iloilo is now on 31 points, just three points behind Ceres Negros, which is playing Mendiola as of posting.
Global Makati, on the other hand, remains in last place with four points. (PNA)
