LUCENA CITY - “Despite the adversities that we are facing right now, your policemen will remain committed to serve and protect the community and share the blessings of a peaceful and progressive Calabarzon”.

This was the opening shots delivered by PRO-Calabarzon director Brig. Gen. Edward Carranza in his speech during yesterday’s 118th Police Service Anniverary celebration of the command with his mistah, Sen. Ronald de le Rosa who was the event’s guest of honor and speaker.

The event was graced by local chief executives of Calabarzon led by Sta. Rosa City Mayor Arlene Arcillas who chairs the Calabarzon Regional Advisory Council.

But the police general emphazised that they must start with themselves, “for we cannot win the trust of the people, if our uniforms are soiled with dust”.

Carranza said it is for this reason why since his assumption as regional director, he immediately implemented the Revitalized Internal Cleansing Program resulting in the dismissal of 181police personnel from the service, the suspension 330 and demotion of 30 over various offenses.

“As a fair warning to everyone, I will not hesitate to punish more policemen, if they fail to live up to our professional standards”, said Carranza.

He also reported the command’s achievement on its anti- illegal drug campaign.

Since June 2018 to August 31 of 2019, Carranza said they have recorded a total of 17,739 operations leading to the arrest of 27,688 drug personalities and the seizure of 357, 638.50 grams of shabu, 19,342 grams of cocaine, 38, 562.78 grams of marijuana and 2 liters of loquid ecstacy with an estimated total value of P4.1 Billion.

He also mentioned the arrest of 1,693 most wanted persons and 9,206 other wanted persons within the said period.

While on criminal gangs, Carranza said 160 members out of 345 have been arrested and accounted.

“Let me assure everyone that more criminals will fall, more will be accounted, and many more will leave Calabarzon, because I have directed my five provincial directors to open the gates of hell and accomodate these bad elements”, the feisty regional director said.
