CANDELARIA, Quezon - Police on Monday night discovered and uprooted marijuana trees planted at the backyard of a farm house in Brgy. Malabanban Norte, this town.
Quezon police director, Col. Audie Madrideo who personally inspected the area along with Mayor Macario Boongaling said farm owner Charles Altomonte, a businessman of Muntinlupa City was not around when the policemen arrived.
Madrideo said they found in Altomonte’s fà rm 9 fully grown marijuana trees, 68 cannabis trees that were already harvested (without roots and leaves) and two bundles of dried leaves wrapped in newspapers and weighing more than two kilos.
Town police commander, Lt. Col. Jezreel Calderon said earlier on Monday, his men spotted the marijuana plantation. They immediately raided the farm.
“Backed- up by members of Quezon Provincial Mobile Force Company under Lt. Col. Arnulfo Selencio and Provincial Intelligence Branch, we made the seizure under the principle of plain view doctrine”, said Calderon.
He said farm care takers Celina Ramos, 45, and her son Rheycel, 22, told them that Altomonte lives in Muntinlupa City stays in the farmhouse three times a week.
“Siya (Altomonte) po ang mismong nag- aalaga ng mga halaman na ‘yan”, Calderon quoted the Ramoses to have said.
The mother and her son volunteered to stand as witnesses against their boss who allegedly planted the marijuana sometime last June.
Mayor Boongaling hailed the police for the job well done and vowed to keep on supporting their anti- illegal drug campaign.
