TAYABAS CITY— An elementary school teacher who was riding a tricycle died along with the driver after they were smashed by a speeding car along the Provincial Road of Brgy. Potol, here, on Thursday.
City police chief, Lt. Col. Roderick Tonga said Josefina Alega, 57, of Bgy. Potol and Jermy Lado, 69, of Bgy. San Isidro Zone-1 both died on arrival at the hospital.
Tonga said three other occupants, Lina Ayangco, Cassandra Tabi and Shernan Padruada, school principal and teachers, respectively, all suffered injuries.
Probers said the incident transpired at 4:30 p.m. while the trike was traversing at the said road on its way to the city proper and a motorcycle driven by Felix Salvan, 59, on the opposite direction, were bumped by the speeding Mazda Pick-up driven by Samson Chang, 63, of Bgy. Canlalay, Biñan, Laguna coming from the intersecting road.
On impact, both the trike and the bike overturned pinning all the trike occupants.
They were all taken to the hospital by responding elements of City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council where Alega and Lado died.
Car driver Chang who told police that the car lost its brakes was detained by the responding cops and was charged with reckless imprudence resulting to double homicide and serious physical injury and damage to property.
