The teachers craft a lesson plan from the least learned competencies using the prescribed DepEd format. The teachers build and refine ideas about “best practice” through a careful, collaborative study of actual instruction. As teachers work together, they build a habit of learning from each other. The first research lesson is taught by one member while others observe the learning of the case students. The group evaluates the lesson, focusing on evidence from the observation of case students’ learning. The lesson is amended for further teaching. A second research lesson is taught to a different class, followed again by collaborative evaluation. The team discusses the results and assesses students’ progress toward learning goals. Then, the team documents the lesson study and shares their work with colleagues. It is a long process. It will take 3 years to see the outcome but the fruit of labor is no learners are left behind.
“Lesson Study is like juice. How you will be able to drink to the bottom given this new idea. How to enjoy Lesson Study depends on how you look at it and how you participate,” said Maylani L. Galicia in a challenged.
“Challenged accepted not by me but all of us. This seminar-workshop is not yet over. Lesson Study should be in all in hearts. Let us dream and continue dreaming bigger, building together and, by association the future of Tayabas City Division excellently always and in always the Tayabasin ways of doing things. Walang magmamalaskit sa ating mga Tayabasin, kundi tayong mga Tayabasin. Challenged as we are, with wavering faith, Father into Your hand we commend our spirits,” said Montano L. Agudilla Jr, West Palale National High School.
Starting next week, 78 teachers will have a communal practice by working collaboratively through research, creating, and evaluating lesson plans to get all students to understand the lesson.
