To strengthen partnership with their survey respondents from various establishments in Calabarzon, the Philippine Statistics Authority Region 4A (PSA 4A) led the Quarterly Survey of Philippine Business and Industry Respondents’ Forum on November 13, 2019.
With the theme, “Improving Economic Statistics through Partnership and Linkages,” representatives from different private establishments in the region and Regional Line Agencies (RLSs) gathered in the forum held at Hotel Marciano, Brgy. Real in Calamba City.
“I would like to thank our dear respondents for their cooperation and participation to PSA surveys like the QSPBI. Because of you we are able to produce quality, relevant and timely statistical data that are vital in policy-making and necessary for equitable development for the benefit of all Filipinos,” National Statistician and Civil Registrar General Usec. Claire Dennis S. Mapa expressed in his keynote message.
He emphasized the great importance of information being generated from the QSPBI survey especially in providing input to policy-making.
“The QSPBI have been immensely valuable in the formulation and implementation of economic plans and programs in both the government and private sector,” the National Statistician pointed out.
He further explicated that the summarized data gathered from the survey are being used by government agencies to craft policies that will attract new investments, stimulate demand, and effectively implement industry regulation that will revitalize industries in the country.
Stressing out the essence of the QSPBI survey, he cited that the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is partnering with PSA to study how QSPBI data can provide input to the Car Industry Roadmap.
“Results of the QSPBI serve as inputs in the estimation of the Quarterly National Accounts and the Quarterly Economic Indicators Which measure the performance of the Philippine Economy,” explains PSA 4A Regional Director Charito Armonia.
She emphasized that the inputs being contributed by establishments and companies through responding to the QSPBI survey play a big role in the economy since the results are utilized in calculating the gross domestic product (GDP) and the gross regional domestic product (GRDP).
Furthermore she said, “After that the data will be used by different sectors in formulating effective plans, programs, and policies for better economy in our country.”
She then thanked the respondents and appealed to them to continually provide the information and data that tells a story about what is really happening in the region’s business and industry.
In this respect, part of the program was the recognition of the outstanding respondents who have supported PSA by consistently submitting the necessary data for the QSPBI survey.
Ms. Alma Mendoza of Batangas Electric Cooperative Inc. II (BATELEC II), on behalf of the respondents, affirmed continual support to PSA’s aim to generate reliable statistical data for national development. (Joy Gabrido/PIA 4A)
