LUCENA CITY, Quezon - The Provincial Government of Quezon has proven once again its exceptional governance in the delivery of public service as it accorded with the prestigious 2019 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) during the SGLG National Awarding Ceremony at the Manila Hotel on November 5, 2019.

DILG Secretary Eduardo Año during the awarding ceremony said the SGLG moves forward as an institutionalized award and incentive program thru RA 11292.

"It is with great optimism that the LGU remains a proactive partner in providing quality service and as agents of the government’s battlecry of having a “gobyernong may malasakit tungo sa pagbabago at patuloy na pag-unlad,” the Secretary added.

SGLG is a progressive assessment system that gives LGUs distinction and honor for their noteworthy and significant performance across the following redefined “All-in” assessment criteria with specific modifications in most of the governance areas namely; Financial Administration; Disaster Preparedness; Social Protection; Peace and Order; Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness; Environmental Management; and Tourism, Culture and the Arts.

Quezon Governor Danilo Suarez said the success of the province is because of the diligence and tenacity of the previous administration of former Governor and now Congressman David Suarez in upholding the standards of transparency, integrity and service delivery.

Aside from the Provincial Government, five municipalities in Quezon province also received the prominent SGLG award. These are Guinayangan, Mauban, Gumaca, Panukulan and Sampaloc.

Celebrating five years of continuing gains in “Tapat at Mahusay na Pamamahalang Lokal”, the Department of Interior and Local Government together with partner agencies conferred 17 provinces, 57 cities and 306 municipalities the much coveted SGLG award.

This year’s awardees will receive the 2019 SGLG marker; eligibility to the DILG Performance Challenge Fund (PCF) to finance their local development projects; and priority access to other programs and capacity development assistance from the DILG.
