TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite: In light of an influx of evacuees from Batangas fleeing the eruption of Taal Volcano and eventually seeking refuge in neighboring Cavite, the latter’s provincial government said it would accept donations to augment its capacity to provide for affected families and communities.
Part of the disaster response measures of the provincial government of Cavite is undertaking relief operations in its cities and municipalities, which have been providing shelter to displaced families.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP or Provincial Board) unanimously approved the passage of SP Resolution 1390-2020 on January 15, authorizing Cavite Gov. Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla, on behalf of the provincial government, to accept donations, in cash or in kind, from government agencies, local government units, nongovernment organizations and local entities for the victims of the Taal eruption.
Meanwhile, the entire province of Cavite has been declared under a state of calamity as ashes continued to fall from the volcano after it erupted on January 12.
Thousands of residents from Batangas and Cavite have been evacuated after the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology raised alert level 4 over Taal Volcano, which means that an “explosive eruption” could happen any time.
The Cavite Provincial Board has allotted P15,000,000 for the victims of the eruption. (MSN News)
