LUCENA CITY - The police hunt for a passenger van driver who figured in a highway mishap in Mulanay, Quezon last Dec. 31 that left five persons dead has ended following his surrender to authorities on Thursday afternoon.
Quezon police director Col. Audie Madrideo said the surrender of Arnel Tesico, 43, of San Andres, Quezon was initiated by Major Joselito Araja, commander of Mulanay Police Station with the cooperation of his policewoman- wife Police Senior Master Sergeant Noralyn Tesico, assigned at the Police Community Relations San Andres Police Station.
Arnel was the one driving a passenger van that smashed a tricycle in a head on collision on the morning of Dec. 31 along National Highway, Brgy Sta Rosa in Munalay town.
The van overtook another vehicle but miscalculated and subsequently lost control of the van resulting in the collition with the trike coming from the opposite direction.
On impact, Benny Jay Raymundo who was driving the trike, his wife Cristy, daughter Chris Jane, son Cris Jay and brother Magno all suffered fatal and severe wounds and died while being rushed to the hospital while Arnel escaped for fear of being jailed.

With that, Araja said the lady cop was forced to cooperate and helped them in facilitating his husband's surrender.
On the afternoon of Tuesday, he said Arnel who went on hiding at Brgy. Talipan, Pagbilao, Quezon finally gave himself up to them.
"We fetched him in Pagbilao town and placed him under our custody", said Araja.
Charges of reckless imprudence resulting to multiple homecide and damage to property have been filed against the suspect. (GEMI FORMARAN)
