CHANGE OF COMMAND. Major General Antonio G Parlade, Jr. installed by AFP Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Felimon T Santos, Jr. as new Commander of Southern Luzon Command (SOLCOM) in simple rites at Camp Guillermo Nakar in Lucena City. January 17, 2020. |
Major General Antonio G Parlade Jr AFP assumed command of the Southern Luzon Command AFP today in a traditional military Change of Command ceremony presided by the AFP Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Filemon T Santos Jr AFP. He replaced Major General Arnulfo Marcelo B Burgos Jr AFP.
Prior to his assumption of command, MGEN PARLADE JR was the Deputy Chief of Staff for Civil Military Operations, J7 at GHQ AFP General Camp Emilio Aguinaldo and detailed with the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) as Senior Military Adviser and one of the Talking Heads in the National Task Force- Ending Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) Secretariat on issues pertaining to International Engagement, Legal Cooperation and Strategic Communication, AFP-PNP Peace and Development and Pertinent Issues related to the NTF-ELCAC Cluster Programs.
Earlier, he was also the commander of 203rd Infantry brigade which covers the island of Mindoro and was the intelligence officer of Southern Luzon Command.
Aside from military basic and advance schooling and the CGSC, he is a graduate of Master in Military Arts and Science at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, USA, Master of Arts for Strategic Studies at Deakin University, Melbourne, Australia and the Executive Course on Defense Decision Making at US Naval Post Graduate School, Monterey, California.
Because of his dedication to values of honor, courage, and commitment, he received a lot of commendations, awards and decorations. More notable are the Distinguished Service Stars for services rendered in positions of major responsibility, the Order of Antonio Luna, a Bronze Cross medal, and the Distinguished Conduct Star for bravery in combat.
He is a member of PMA Hinirang Class of 1987. He was born in Ligao, Albay and is married to Cecille O Parlade. They are blessed with five children.
In his message, he expressed his gratitudes to the AFP leadership and promised to continue the excellent performance of the SOLCOM and all the units under its command, especially in addressing the local communist terrorists.
