CALAMBA CITY, Laguna - The government and private sector funnel both monetary and non-monetary assistance to evacuees affected by the continuous volcanic activity of Taal Volcano.
One-stop-shop help desks with first aid, medical support, free calls and mobile phone charging and feeding stations have also been set up in some evacuation centers in Batangas through the partnership of the government and private sector.
Medical Assistance and consultations Department of Health, Batangas Medical Center and Philippine Medical Association - Batangas Chapter personnel are also provided to evacuees at the Batangas Provincial Sports Complex.
Members of the Regional Nutrition Cluster (RNC) CALABARZON composed of Department of Health, National Nutrition Council, Philippine Information Agency and Kabisig ng Kalahi also conducted a rapid nutrition assessment using the NINA tool for evacuees in Batangas Sports Complex and Bauan Technical High School in Bauan, Batangas.Medical assistance and services for evacuees are available through the joint initiative of the public and private sectors. The municipalities of San Nicolas, Sta. Teresita, Bauan, Cuenca, Balete, Taal, Mataas na Kahoy and the City of Lipa also received P 5 million each from President Rodrigo Duterte which was turned over by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea Jr.
In Laguna, The Biñan City Congressional District Office enlisted the support of individual and institutional partners through collecting and distributing both food and non-food donations for evacuees in Cavite and Batangas provinces. In Rizal, the respective Mayors of the City of Antipolo and the municipalities of Angono and Taytay among others have called for donations to be pooled in coordination with the respective Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices and Social Welfare and Development Offices.
In Quezon, the Provincial Government has also launched the "Yakap Kabayan" donation drive to gather donations such as bottled water, hygiene kits, sleeping mats/blankets and canned goods.Evacuees take their shares of donated clothing at the Batangas City Sports Complex. (Cecilia Maloles, PIA4A)
The Southern Luzon Command also recently sent 475 Philippine Army Personnel to provide security and assist in clearing operations in the towns of Talisay, Laurel, San Nicolas, San Luis, Calaca, Santo Tomas and Tanauan.
The Department of Public Works and Highways has also initially deployed 99 equipment and 449 personnel to clear roads affected by the volcanic activity.
PNP Maritime Group personnel also conducted seaborne patrol, clearing and forced evacuation of remaining residents and domestic animals in Talisay, Batangas.

Local government units from other regions as well as some religious institutions and local farmers have also shown support.
Farmers from Benguet Province have donated vegetables to be given to evacuees.
From Central Luzon, Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando turned over P 1M of donations from the province as well as 5,000 food packs to Batangas Province while Pampanga Governor Dennis Pineda also pledged assistance and food packs .
Around 62,000 face masks, 2 generator sets as well as hand towels and used clothes were also initially turned over to the Batangas Provincial Government from the Panay and Negros Islands.
Iglesia ni Cristo has also started distributing rice to evacuees at the Batangas City Sports Complex. (GG/PIA4A pooled report)
