Gen. Mariano Alvarez, Cavite – The celebration of Valentine’s Day was given essence with the medical and dental mission conducted for the Persons Deprived of Liberty inside the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology facility here.
The local government of Gen. Mariano Alvarez led by Municipal Mayor Walter D. Echevarria, Jr. and Vice Mayor Maricel E. Torres initiated the caravan dubbed as “Puso Para sa Bilanggo” through its Rural Health Unit headed by Dr. Eduardo C. Alcasid and the Provincial Health Office.
Volunteer medical professionals rendered medical and skin disease consultation, dental check-up and HIV counselling and screening to 231 inmates of the facility.
Mayor Echevarria said, ”I thank all the stakeholders for the support that they have always given for this program since it started five years ago,” adding, “we not only look out for the welfare of those who are free but we also care for the people who have gone astray and now are deprived of liberty.” (Ruel Francisco, PIA-Cavite/with reports from PIO-GMA)
