After the eruption of Taal volcano on January 12 that left a huge number of displaced families and communities from Batangas, all forms of help began to come in from the government, the non-government and the private sector. In the Provincial Government of Cavite, call for donations has been answered in heaps with the continuous outpour of donations for the evacuees who have fled in different cities and municipalities of Cavite.
Governor Remulla openly expressed his desire to help the residents from the neighboring province of Batangas. This, amidst the fact that even residents of several LGUs in Cavite were also affected and remain at risk especially during the height of volcanic activities where some areas fall within the 14-kilometer danger zone. His assurance is that the province will not turn its back on anyone during this time of crisis and made sure that all necessary actions were undertaken to facilitate response operations.
Organizations began pooling their resources to extend the much-needed aid for the victims who have left everything behind in the fear of imminent danger, taking only what’s within arm’s reach and most valuable, their loved ones.
With the passage of Sangguniang Panlalawigan Resolution No. 1390-2020, the PGC was able to accept donations in cash and in kind, all of which are accounted for, properly received, stored, distributed and prepositioned for release.
Among the early sponsors who handed over their donations of assorted goods to the provincial government were members of the Federation of Cavite Filipino Chinese Business Club,Inc., the Philippine Harmonious Grand Mason South Luzon Chapter, PICPA Cavite Chapter, the Rebisco Group of Companies with loads of handy pack crackers and the Knights of Columbus Labrador Council 7665 with assorted goods and purified water. Also donating assorted goods were the Anvil Business Club, Maynilad Water Services Inc. with goods and water, and the City Government of Navotas while the UNICEF donated Early Childhood Care and Development kits.
