CALAMBA CITY, Laguna – Biñan Mayor Arman Dimaguila has dismissed as hoax a social media post claiming that there were confirmed cases of the corona virus disease (COVID-19) in the city.
Mayor Dimaguila appealed to his constituents to stop sharing the fake news on social media.
“We appeal to our people... verify first the legitimacy of the account before sharing,” he said in an interview.
In the same breath, the mayor said there were no COVID-19 cases in the city and there was no need for a lockdown.
He assured residents that precautionary measures are in place and the city’s responders and hospitals are on full alert.

“Tayo po ay naghahanda bilang pagsunod sa tagubilin ng ating Pangulo (We are preparing as instructed by the President).”
He clarified that they are only practicing precautionary measures and observing protocols in case a COVID-19 patient will be identified.
The chief executive reminded his constituents not to panic and follow health measures like often cleaning of hands with soap, using 70% solution alcohol, and avoiding crowded events and places.
“Magdasal po tayo at gawin po natin ang nararapat (Let us pray and do what needs to be done).”
