TIAONG, Quezon - Authorities manning a checkpoint held a Cavitenio businessman who introduced himself as a militaryman but turnedout to be a sham at Brgy. Lalig, here, on Tuesday.
Quezon police directot, Col. Audie Madrideo said Pedro Ipunla, Jr., 43, of Purok 6, Brgy Lallana, Trece Martires City, Cavite yielded an unlicensed Glock cal. 40, with three magazines loaded with forty-two (42) live bullets and twenty-four extra ammunition and some fake identification cards.
Madrideo said Ipunla was driving his Toyota Tamaraw Wagon bearing plate number XY- 879 traversing southbound lane along Maharlika Highway at said village when he was flagged down by personnel of Tiaong police station under Lt. Col. Dennis de Leon and a group of Philippine Army reservists manning an Enhanced Community Quarantine Checkpoint.
When asked about his permit to travel, Madrideo said Ipunla who failed to show any document immediately introduced himself as an officer of the Philippine Army while showing his IDs which turned out to be bogus.
The suspect was detained at the locked up jail and was charged with usurpation of authority and illegal possesion of firearm and violations of Republic Act Nr 11332. (GEMI FORMARAN)
