DOH 4A Regional Director Eduardo Janairo

BAY, Laguna - DOH 4A Regional Director Eduardo Janairo, on a radio interview yesterday, said local governments in the region are preparing for possible rise in number of persons-under-investigation (PUIs) in the region.

“Ang bawat local government natin ay naghahanap na lalo na ang provincial government. Naghahanap na sila ng mga facilities, whether hospital yan o kahit hotels o gymnasium, evacuation centers para iyong persons-under-investigation natin kung darami ay may paglalagyan tayo,” Janairo stated.

(“Every local government especially the provincial government is already looking for facilities, whether hospital, hotels, gymnasiums or evacuation centers so that we would have accommodation in case the PUIs will increase.”)

He emphasized that preparing facilities to provide accommodation for PUIs is essential particularly with occurring incidences of PUIs being restricted from entering their barangay or, even worse, not welcomed by their relatives to go back home.

Stories of PUIs being discriminated by their fellowmen is not a Filipino trait, which the Regional Director said was very puzzling.

“Kahit positive actually kung mild symtoms siya talagang pwede na sa bahay iyon ,” he explained.

He clarified that even patients with positive cases, as long as they only have mild symptoms, may opt for a home quarantine.

Moreover, Janairo said there had been delays in releasing the updated data on the number of COVID-19 cases in the region due to the abrupt changes as test results keep on coming and confirmed cases continuously increase.

He said some of the confirmed cases still need to be verified and identified as some data are being relayed directly to the localities without being reported to the regional office.’’

As of 5:00 PM of March 26, 2020, Calabarzon has a total of 95 positive COVID-19 cases, 3 recoveries, 14 deaths. Of the 95, Cavite has 23 positive cases, 1 recovery and 4 deaths; Laguna has 18 confirmed cases and 3 deaths; Batangas has 13 cases, 1 recovery and 1 death; Rizal has 37 cases, 1 recovery and 6 deaths; and Quezon with 4 positive cases.
