LUCENA CITY, Quezon Province - The province has been placed under total lockdown on Thursday Midnight due to the continuous increase in the number of confirmed positive cases of Coronavirus Disease (COVID19).
The lockdown took effect at 12 a.m. on Thursday, April 8, Quezon Public Information Office announced on Facebook.
"In light of the increasing number of confirmed COVID-19 patients in Quezon Province, a TOTAL LOCKDOWN shall be implemented in the whole province effective 12:01 AM of April 9, 2020. This requires the stricter implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine. An Executive Order will be issued to define the framework and guidelines of this policy.," he said.
In the Executive Order (EO), Governor Danilo Suarez has implemented an extreme quarantine community across the province.
The EO claimed that no one else could enter the province. An individual must have a travel permit when entering or traveling to Quezon.
Suarez then asked for public cooperation and understanding.
“Hinihiling ko po ang higit ninyong pang-unawa at pakikiisa sa panahon ng pandemic na ito,” Suarez said in a Facebook post.
Residents are expected to stay at home during the total lockdown.
Workers in the medical services, funeral services, emergency responders, security services, banks, money transfer services, supermarkets, groceries, convenience and sari-sari stores, hypermarkets, public markets, pharmacies and drugstores, and food chains/restaurants/carinderias engaged in delivery and takeout are exempt from lockdown.
Delivery personnel of cargoes, workers in manufacturing facilities engaged in the production and distribution of food, essential and hygiene products, medicines and vitamins and medical products, logistics/warehouse establishments employees, telecommunications personnel, energy companies' personnel, and water and sanitation companies' workers are also exempted.
Only one person per household will be allowed to leave the home for the services of those establishments.
Authorized persons such as the executive branch government skeletal force, capital market staff, DOLE skeletal staff for Tulong Hanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged / Displaced Workers (TUPAD) are also exempted.
On Thursday, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Laguna rose to 20 from 19 on Wednesday.

Three (3) confirmed recoveries of COVID-19 patients as of 9:00 AM, April 9, 2020 according to the Quezon Public Information Office.
